about
Many of the songs on this album are reverse engineered from loops of electronica, so it is ironic that this should be composed around a loop taken from one of our session jams.
The squinting, scintillating sound at the beginning is from the beginning of a spoken-word version of the song recorded by Geoffrey. The loop is tentative - almost not there, shimmering like a mirage of salt and sea; Megan Bernard's vocals anchor the beat and pull the song out of the etherial realm into the material quarter beat.
It evokes a sense of place - the tawdry seaside suburbs of the fifties replaced by the iced-up desperation of out of control 'development'.
lyrics
Don' know where Summer run us to
Don' know what we should do
Endless summer song
Not going back to Avalon
To hang out there alone
I don't think so
Endless, endless summer song
Swell line today Seagulls flew the blue away
Bus stop, stop watch, milk bar, long gone
Sun and surf and loveless real estate
In this old thrice broken place
Not going back to Avalon
To hang out there alone
I don't think so
Endless summer song
