about
Written from a search list from the NY public Library where Geoffrey stayed warm and dry during two freezing NY winters in the 80s. Samurai Trash had disbanded and he had lost faith in the Australian music scene which was becoming ever more commercial and populist.
The song goes back in time to when Geoffrey packed up is books and clothes and went looking for collaborators overseas. With a stark proleptic vision of 911, the song heralds in the 'disinformationage' of the internet, fake news and then facebook.
lyrics
Locust, strip bare the tree of life
Locust teeth, locust throat
in your divine hunger
You took America no one was watching
won't you please put it back
before it gets broken
Under the sun migrant mother says you are
draining the life blood
right out of my love line
We work like slaves to buy these things
Our eyes tend to go
window-shopping
I wa wa wa wa wa wa wa wa wa wa want some
I wa wa wa wa wa wa wa wa wa wa want some
We are locust and bad, oh so very bad
Yes, we are locust devouring the network news
We are locust and bad, oh so very bad
Further more we decline your reality
Emerging from subways, blacken the landscape
Too much
disinformationage
Bloody goddess a statue, ever so gently
Driving that big truck
through the back of his head.
